About Jodi Romaker
Jodi graduated from the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Tucson, Arizona in 1989, with 1,000 hours of classroom training in massage therapy and related courses such as anatomy and physiology and sports massage. While in Tucson, she did massage therapy at five-star resorts whilst gaining experience working with professional golfers and American football players as their sports massage therapist.
Her sports massage experience over the years has included the International Weightlifting Championships, The International Judo Championships, Olympic athletes and Professional Golf Tournaments. As the touring manager of a dance troupe. . .

This is the most common treatment that most of my clients request. The pressure used is usually between a deep massage and Swedish massage.
Sports Massage is the application of massage and stretch techniques to the muscle and connective tissues of the body to enhance athletic performance and maximise the performance of the athlete. Its primary purpose is to ease stiffness and pain in both muscles and joints, increase mobility in muscles and joints, warm muscle and connective tissue prior to exercise and help in removing toxins and lactic acid after a workout.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on re-aligning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limit movement, and cause inflammation. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
Sports taping is applied to help protect and support joints and muscle groups, in the prevention of injuries as well as pain relief. I use Kinesio Tape, which has unique elastic properties that provides dynamic support so that athletes can still perform. Since it is made with a medical grade adhesive, it is water-resistant, which means you can wear it longer than other less expensive sports tapes. Kinesio Tape dries quickly and can be worn during an intense workout, swimming, or in the shower. Made from a hypoallergenic cotton fibre strip, Kinesio Tape also doesn’t limit range of motion and the tension on the tape has the ability to either relax or stimulate muscles, depending on how it is applied.
FULL BODY ASSISTED STRETCHING
Are you one of those people who can’t be bothered to stretch? You may know that you “should” stretch, and you have every intention to start tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes and the cycle continues.
Since we live in the age of technology, most of us put stress and strain on our bodies due to prolonged sitting from using our computers and looking down at our handheld devices. If our postures remain strained day after day, this can lead to body aches and pains and reduced flexibility. We are less active when sitting for long periods of time and our muscles become shorter due to remaining in the same positions.
The main goal of Swedish Massage is relaxation. It uses a firm but gentle pressure, gliding strokes to improve circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, and improve flexibility and create relaxation. It involves a sequence of movements working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers.
Swedish massage increases the oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles, thus improving recovery time from muscular strain. It not only feels exceptionally good, but is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, circulation, and promotes our general health and well-being. As a treatment it helps reduce stress, both emotional and physical, and is often suggested in a program for stress management.
SPORTS & SWEDISH COMBO
This combination of both sports massage (therapy focused) and Swedish massage (relaxation focused), is very popular. This is for those who don't have any specific physical problem areas. This treatment is for those who want to relax yet also have tight areas and tension released using some more gentle sports massage and Swedish massage techniques. This type of massage therapy improves flexibility and circulation, and soothes muscle aches. It involves a sequence of movements working both superficially and a bit deeper into the tissue layers.
It has both relaxing and therapeutic benefits which have a positive impact on a physical as well as an emotional level since it can help reduce stress levels.
MASSAGE FOR SENIORS
Massage for seniors is designed to address specific needs of the older population. The techniques may involve gentle and lighter application of pressure and can include passive stretching and a light oil to permit muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. Massage for seniors can help improve balance and flexibility, reduce the pain of arthritis, increase joint mobility, improve posture, enhance blood circulation, help combat depression and encourage overall well-being.
Senior massage can be especially helpful for maintaining and improving overall health as we age. It also has been shown to relieve anxiety and provide comfort, especially to touch-deprived elderly clients.
HOT STONE MASSAGE
Hot stone massage is a speciality massage using smooth, heated basalt stones, either as an extension of the therapist’s hands, or by placing the hot stones on the client’s body while massaging other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.
The intent of stone massage therapy is to ease muscle stiffness, increase circulation, relieve chronic pain, increase joint flexibility, and promote relaxation.
